Drugs are bad,Mm' k!
Let me first start off by saying I really have a bad fear of spiders so me posting this content is really creeping me out. Well fortunately for you the science geek finds this super fascinating so enjoy this weird science. So back in 1995 some scientist with American arachnology decided to give a couple of spiders some drugs to test the effects of drugs on their brains.
Here are some of the results of the experiment
Spider's who have been given marijuana started out well enough, but were unable to remain focused.
Spiders who were given speed (benzedrine) spun enthusiastically, with no real thought or care put into the web.
Spider's who were given caffeine created super erratic webs.
Spider's who were given an active ingrediant in sleeping pills(chloral hydrate) made the spiders immediately dose off before even getting started on the web.
Though this experiment was to determine the toxicity of specific drugs back in 1995, it was initially a continuation of an experiment from P.N. Witt started in 1948. Find out more details of this experiment here.
